Inkjet
cartridge types: OEM, remanufactured,
compatible & general cartridges info:
Your
inkjet. Cartridges available as OEM, remanufactured and
compatible inkjet cartridges.
OEM
– Stands for the 'Original Equipment Manufacturer'. OEM cartridges are new cartridges put out by the original manufacturer. They are the highest cost cartridge of any
on the market.
Remanufactured – Made from OEM cartridges. Possibly an
option for the buyer who wants to maintain the original name part.
Cartridges can be re-used at least several times, based on their useful
life. Arrangements may require that you send the spent cartridge
back to the sender in exchange for receiving the item, but not
necessarily.
Compatible* – Describes cartridges that are made new for use
with a brand name printer. However these are not made by the same
manufacturer and each may service multiple inkjet models.
*Considering
a compatible? Does the entire compatible cartridge match the
manufacturer’s specifications? (as for all
types of reseller
replacement cartridges)
Also,
some inkjet manufacturers want to specify the type of paper used with
their printer. However, analogous to the OEM cartridge, as a spot check of photo quality papers will
quickly reveal - these papers can test financial limits. Similar/compatible
paper for many of these printers is now on the market
note:
whether or not non-OEM cartridges can void the printer warranty - you may want to familiarize yourself with your
own manufacturer terms and conditions particular to your inkjet unit
(see disclaimer). Most dealers take a position that the warranty is not
in jeopardy, some citing legal cases. While there are
select inkjet manufacturers who state otherwise. Everything
considered you may want to investigate for yourself to determine the
best and most viable option for your replacement purchase. No
comment is given for the
refill kit and bulk ink.
