More of a freestyle texture, the splatter is exactly what it sounds. Texture that has been splattered onto the drywall through a hopper gun. The splatter technique is often mistaken for the orange peel texture.

It's a great place to begin for those who have never shot textures, or, who are unsure about applying some of the more advanced applications.



Skills: Begginers can apply the texture. Achieving consistency however for this and all textures is obvious when the job is done and viewed altogether.

Materials: Thinned joint compound will do, and is less expensive than texture in bagged form. Masking tape and plastic.

Tools: A hopper gun with compressor (rentals will do) and ladders as the situation calls for it. A mixing paddle and heavy electric drill.
