Discount inkjets -  different computer printers have features and functions not always easily compared.  Due partly to the fact that the manufacturer's just don't always advertise comparably inkjet to inkjet stats. [Maybe from specs not supplied to them]. Surely this goes for some third party retailers who aren't manufacturer dealers per se who are presenting promotions.   

It can be easily to overlook an absent tray feed for envelopes, until you go to use it.  In earlier models there have been some difficulties with the 'gravity' type rear paper feed.  Does your subject printer employ an improved technology for paper handling (mainly with the all in one machines) 

Scanners and fax managing capabilities  - don't wait till it's set up in use to figure out that you may need a stand alone fax modem especially if relying on a single data connection*.  A flatbed scanner is usually preferred since images on the multifunction machines must take the 'bend' and also be encased in a slipcover first.

Before buying is the right opportunity to determine costs for replacements and availability/economical savings options.  Often ink surpasses costs of hardware (see links below).  Obviously non-smearing inks work best.

Then, there are the other details like ports and connections for memory card devices and download sticks and what have you.
